Student with good educational grades enrolling in first year of undergraduate or entering in postgraduate degree are allowed to apply for the scholarship. 10 scholarships of worth NZ$10,000 are offered for bachelors and master’s degree students and 9 scholarships of amount NZ$5,000 are provided for master’s degree only. Also 110 PhD scholarships are provided to students each year with an amount of $27,500 stipend annually plus tuition fees. The grant provides for tuition fee once candidate enrolled in university.

Financial Advantages of University of Wellington Scholarship:

Documents Requirements:
To apply for Tongarewa Scholarship in New Zealand applicants need to fulfill following standards:
- Provide Previous Degree Transcript or Degree Certificate and any other educational document
- Give Conditional or Unconditional offer letter from Victoria University of Wellington.
- Exhibit Maximum of 500 words Personal Statement explaining the following:
- Mention Why you want to study at this University?
- Describe Educational goals of candidate
- Why you will be selected for this award?
- Mention, how you can also provide any leadership positions and details of your participation in your university, school or community.
Eligibility Standards:
- Applicants from any nationality can apply who is paying full fee.
- Applicant must be first year student of an undergraduate degree or entering a postgraduate degree program.
Ineligibility Standards:
- Candidate who has completed his/her secondary education from a School in New Zealand school
- Student who done any prerequisite course at Victoria University of Wellington (i.e., Foundation Studies Program or English Proficiency Program) are allowed to apply.
- Must Have a Study Abroad or student of any partner universities
- If applicant is in 2nd year of study at university.
Application’s Deadline to apply:
30th November 2021 is the last date to apply for Tongarewa Scholarship Trimester 1. And 1st June 2022 is the closing date to apply for Tongarewa Scholarship Trimester 2. And 1st September 2022 is closing date to apply for Tongarewa Scholarship Trimester 3. PhD students are allowed until 1st July 2022.
